This hackathon is all about building innovative on-chain experiences #onFlow, and reaching mainstream audiences. Thanks to Flow’s frictionless onboarding, on-chain scalability and revolutionary smart contract programming language (Cadence), on-chain experiences don’t need to be limited to a mint. Whether you’re looking to build a mobile game, a DeFi application or building experiences on top of existing apps like NBA TopShot, this hackathon is for you.

Timeline

1. Education Phase, February 10-20, 2023: Learn from world class blockchain and Web3 experts and pick an idea.
2. Build Sprint & Submit!  Feb 20-26, 2023: Work on your prototype and deploy it to testnet and submit!
3. Award Ceremony, TBA: After judges have a chance to review all your submissions, winners will be announced!
4. Launchpad, Mar 1 - Apr 30, 2023: Best ideas can enter a 2-month launchpad where project teams can get mentorship and support to reach mainnet, including pitching to investors.
5. Mainnet, April 2023+: Take your dApp to mainnet and reach mainstream users, on the world's most scalable, frictionless and eco-friendly blockchain.

This hackathon's main track is dedicated to building innovative on-chain logic aimed at a mainstream audience. This means you can build anything you want; your guiding principle should be: would your friends enjoy using this app, even if they don’t know anything about web3?

Best Uses of Walletless Onboarding:

Apps on Flow can create onboarding experiences that are familiar and accessible to users that are new to Web3: signup via email/social identity, purchasing NFTs using credit cards, and completely abstracting away the presence of the underlying blockchain. Once a user is ready for a self-custody experience, apps can deliver a seamless transition to real ownership through a new concept on Flow called hybrid custody. This is mostly uncharted territory, so use this hackathon as an opportunity to explore what this experience should be like!
