The DAO Hack is the first hackathon as part of the BitDAO-dedicated programme alongside an educational series, bootcamp and upcoming accelerators.

The hackathon itself begins with a Launch Event on Wednesday, 2nd March, lasting 4 weeks through to Sunday, April 3rd.

BitDAO finish the hackathon with a finale event, where the best hackathon projects pitch to win top prizes!

Hackathon Challenges

BitDAO believes that DAOs can do more, not just for industries around the world, but for themselves as well. While DAO treasuries have climbed into the billions, the tooling that helps access that value and potential are racing to catch up. This hackathon challenges you to imagine new ways to build tooling that unlocks the power of DAOs through their community, treasury, and more.

In this hack you can build on any chain or L1!

DAO Tooling Challenge

If DAOs are the future, BitDAO needs infrastructure and tooling to bring them to life!

BitDAO would love to see things such as:

• A new general DAO management tool like Aragon or DAOhaus
• Treasury Management Systems and platforms
• DeFi for DAOs
• New and exciting ways to do governance and voting (e.g. better versions of Snapshot)
• New ways to do communication and messaging (e.g. web3 Discord)
• Better ways to engage DAO communities (e.g. better versions of Forum)
• New types of multi-sig with better functionality (e.g. improve of Gnosis SAFE)
• Access control based on token ownership (e.g. Collab.land)

Build a DAO Challenge

BitDAO is positioning itself as the coordination layer of the future, where a multi-billion dollar treasury can be allocated across art, entertainment, media, finance, technology, and more, in order to cultivate and grow Web3 technologies and products.

To achieve this, the BitDAO community employs a strategy whereby it helps create Autonomous Entities, or net new organizations that are purpose built and structured to affect change in their respective industries.

These organizations are economically aligned with BitDAO and are voted on and approved by the BitDAO community. Some examples of autonomous entities created are Game7.io, EduDAO.io, and zkDAO.io.

What can you create?

BitDAO challenges you to actually build a DAO in whatever form you think. In general, the team will be looking for three things:

• First, technically build a DAO using either a platform or completely bespoke and self-built (extra points for this)
• Second, decide a unique purpose and way of achieving this goal e.g. a social impact, or a membership group or to buy something like the Constitution!
• Third, achieve some traction in terms of membership and usage.
