Base announced grants for those building and creating on Base this summer together with PropHouse.

• Onchain Summer – August 9 - 18: Make art, a website, or whatever you’re inspired to for Onchain Summer on Base.
• Build on Base – August 12 - 23: Deploy a protocol, build infrastructure, or a new application on Base.
• Stand with Crypto – August 14 - 24: Make a one minute video sharing a story about an onchain use case, or advocating for sensible legislation.
• Based Accounts – August 16 - September 13: Build something that unlocks new or improved user experiences on Base using account abstraction.

In addition to grants, Base has teamed up with other Superchain members to host a virtual hackathon, Superhack, from August 4-18. The hackathon will feature $125,000 in prizes. Apply here.

Get ready by learning about and bridging to Base

To get ready for Onchain Summer and Base Mainnet, all you’ll need is a crypto wallet with ETH on Base. There are six easy ways you can bridge to Base:

1. Onchain Summer. Mint the commemorative Bridge to Base NFT while bridging ETH to Base at onchainsummer.xyz.
2. Base Bridge: Bridge ETH to Base by visiting bridge.base.org and minting a commemorative NFT.
3. Quests on Coinbase: Learn about Base, bridge ETH, mint a commemorative NFT and earn enough ETH for about ten transaction fees on Base while supplies last. Complete the quest either in your Coinbase app (open link on mobile) through “Learning Rewards” or in your Coinbase Wallet app through the “Explore” or “Browser” tabs.
4. Galxe: Learn about and bridge to Base with Galxe. You’ll be able to mint an NFT and earn a chance at a small ETH reward (while supplies last) after completing the quiz and bridging to Base. Start collecting loyalty points to climb up the leaderboard.
5. Layer3: Complete a Bridge to Base quest on Layer3. Learn about Base, complete the quiz, bridge ETH, mint your commemorative NFT and get an ETH reward in your wallet.
6. Mint.fun: Anyone can mint to bridge with mint.fun and get your mint fee of 0.001 ETH back on Base. If you’re a mint.fun pass holder, you can mint for free and get your NFT and a small amount of Base ETH for free. (For both offers, while supplies last.)

Bridge to Base with any wallet, including Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, Safe, Brave, Rabby, Frame, Exodus, Trust Wallet, rhino.fi, and Frontier.

Submission Criteria

1. This is intended to be retroactive funding: please submit completed work and suggest how you might continue to add or improve on your work
2. Work must be deployed on or connected to Base and onchain summer in some way.
3. We prefer work that is open source and free for others to use.

Who can submit?
To control for spam and be eligible to receive a grant, submission is limited to addresses with an ENS name, 0.025 ETH on mainnet, and to persons who are at least of the age of majority in his or her state or country of residence and are not legal residents of any OFAC sanctioned country or country subject to sanctions.

Official Rules and Grant Recipient Selection
All submissions must comply with these Official Rules.
1. Please note Coinbase reserves the right not to fund any submission that may cause, in Coinbase’s sole determination, legal, regulatory, or compliance risk or reputational harm to Coinbase. Any decision to not fund a top voted submission is at Coinbase’s sole discretion.
2. As the NFT is a free and open mint, Base will be ensuring fairness after voting finishes to ensure the grant recipients meet the eligibility, submission, and selection criteria as stated in the Official Rules. Base also reserves the right to select grant recipients different from those which may have received the highest votes in the event the project believe there was voting manipulation.
3. Grant recipients will need to KYC with Coinbase via a W9 or W8 tax form. International winners may have 30% withheld from their winnings. Base will only grant to individuals and entities.
